From Ibiza to a Global Model of Nightlife

Over more than three decades, Pissenem has developed a portfolio that has redefined the scale and ambition of club culture. As Founder and CEO of The Night League and Ushuaïa Entertainment, he has been the driving force behind some of Ibiza’s most influential venues, including Ushuaïa Ibiza, Hï Ibiza and [UNVRS], as well as the expansion of the brand internationally with Ushuaïa Dubai Harbour Experience.

His approach has consistently moved beyond traditional club formats, integrating architecture, production design and technology into a unified experience. Under his leadership, The Night League now welcomes more than two million visitors annually, positioning Ibiza as a central node within the global electronic music ecosystem.

Under his leadership, The Night League now welcomes more than two million visitors annually, positioning Ibiza as a central node within the global electronic music ecosystem.

Innovation as a Continuous Process

Pissenem’s trajectory reflects a broader shift in nightlife over the past two decades — from isolated venues to fully articulated cultural platforms. Projects such as Ushuaïa Ibiza introduced a new scale of open-air production, while Hï Ibiza redefined the multi-room club experience. More recently, [UNVRS] has pushed this evolution further, combining large-scale infrastructure with immersive design.

This progression has been driven by a consistent principle: the integration of music, space and audience into a cohesive system. Rather than treating venues as static environments, his work has focused on creating adaptable frameworks capable of evolving with both artists and audiences.

Recognition from the Industry

The IMS organisation framed the award as recognition of a career that has repeatedly reshaped the landscape of electronic music culture. From early events on Ibiza’s beaches to the development of globally recognised venues, Pissenem’s work has been characterised by a willingness to challenge established formats and redefine expectations.

His collaborations with artists, promoters and creative partners have contributed to the emergence of Ibiza as a reference point for club culture worldwide, while his long-term partnerships within the industry have supported the growth of new talent alongside established names.

A Collective Achievement

In response to the announcement, Pissenem emphased the collective dimension of his work, highlighting the role of collaborators, teams and the wider industry in shaping his trajectory. He pointed to the importance of Ibiza as both a creative environment and a source of inspiration, as well as the contribution of artists and audiences in building the identity of his venues over time.

The recognition, he noted, reflects not only individual achievement but the broader ecosystem that sustains contemporary nightlife — from production teams and managers to promoters and creative partners working behind the scenes.

IMS Ibiza 2026

The IMS Legends Award dinner will take place on 22 April as part of IMS Ibiza 2026. With limited capacity, attendance will be restricted, with registration required for those wishing to participate.

As the summit continues to explore the future of electronic music through dialogue and analysis, the inclusion of Yann Pissenem as both keynote speaker and award recipient reinforces a central theme of the programme: the individuals shaping the structures within which the culture evolves.
