The first IMS Ibiza 2026 talks are announced for 'Reclaiming the Dancefloor' main theme, featuring keynote speakers Yann Pissenem and Maykel Piron.

A First Look at This Year’s Editorial Direction

The first wave of talks for IMS Ibiza 2026 has been revealed, offering an initial insight into the themes and conversations set to define this year’s summit. Presented in partnership with AlphaTheta, the programme once again positions IMS at the intersection of culture, industry and long-term reflection.

At the centre of the 2026 edition sits a unifying theme — Reclaim the Dancefloor. Framed as a response to a rapidly shifting landscape, it signals a broader intention: to reconnect electronic music with its foundational values at a time when external forces continue to reshape how the culture is experienced and monetised.

Honouring Legacy While Examining the Present

Among the first announced sessions, a dedicated talk celebrating 35 years of Nervous Records highlights the enduring influence of one of dance music’s most pivotal imprints. More than a retrospective, the session is expected to explore how legacy labels navigate an ecosystem defined by constant reinvention.

This dialogue between past and present extends to the keynote programme. Maykel Piron, CEO and Co-Founder of Armada Music Group, joins Yann Pissenem, the founder behind The Night League and Ushuaïa Entertainment, which also receive the IMS Legend Award series of keynote interviews examining two distinct but complementary perspectives on the industry’s evolution — from recorded music infrastructure to large-scale nightlife innovation.

Spotlighting the People Behind the Movement

Beyond headline figures, the programme places a strong emphasis on the individuals shaping the scene from within. Sessions such as Meet Team: Josh Baker and Meet The New Team Sónar shift the focus toward the networks, collectives and organisations driving contemporary club culture.

These formats reflect a broader editorial approach at IMS: moving beyond artist-centric narratives to examine the ecosystems that support them. By foregrounding teams and collaborators, the summit acknowledges the increasingly collective nature of electronic music’s development.

Regional Perspectives and Emerging Scenes

Geography also plays a key role in this first announcement. Eastern Europe on the Rise: New Voices, New Futures, presented by Telekom Electronic Beats, highlights the growing influence of a region that has steadily moved from the margins to the centre of global electronic music.

Rather than treating regional scenes as isolated phenomena, the session is expected to explore how local movements interact with global structures — and how new voices are reshaping the balance of cultural influence within the industry.

Reclaiming the Dancefloor

Running through each of these discussions is the overarching question posed by the 2026 theme. As electronic music continues to expand across platforms, formats and audiences, IMS Ibiza positions this edition as a moment of recalibration.

The idea of “reclaiming the dancefloor” is less about nostalgia than about agency — examining how artists, industry professionals and communities can maintain control over a culture increasingly shaped by technological acceleration, investment and changing audience behaviours.

An Expanding Programme

This first announcement marks only the beginning of the 2026 programme, with further speakers, sessions and formats set to be revealed in the coming weeks. As in previous editions, the summit will take place between the Mondrian Ibiza and Hyde Ibiza hotels from April 22 to 24, bringing together a global network of artists, executives and cultural actors.

In a landscape defined by constant change, IMS Ibiza continues to function as both a mirror and a catalyst — a space where the industry not only reflects on its current state, but actively shapes what comes next.
