Wez Saunders launches Defected new Garage label "Bad Decisions"
Bad Decisions is joining Defected Records' repertoire of 25+ labels and will feature BVNQUET featuring Emma Cannon with "Too Late Now" as debut release.
Bad Decisions is joining Defected Records' repertoire of 25+ labels and will feature BVNQUET featuring Emma Cannon with "Too Late Now" as debut release.
Founded by Defected CEO' Wez Saunders, Bad Decisions debut release come as the first of a four-single deal with BVNQUET, as being identified as an artist having "a modern take on the quintessential garage sound" that fit as first release to demonstrate the intentions of the label defined as a self-proclaimed “passion project”.
Debuting in 2022 with 'Mornings', BVNQUET has quickly garnered attention from key tastemakers and collaborated with industry heavyweights like General Levy. Defected explains that 'Too Late Now' showcases BVNQUET’s natural talent for collaboration, here with singer/songwriter Emma Cannon and featuring her catchy vocals as a perfect complement his polished production.

This is a bit of a passion project for me. I think most people know I’m a not-so-secret garage fan and I feel there’s definitely a gap within the Defected ecosystem. I’ve signed some amazing records for it already from super-talented artists, the first being BVNQUET who I think has huge potential. The time is right for us to make some Bad Decisions ourselves.

I am super excited to sign my debut EP to such a culturally significant record label - and having the first release on their new UKG imprint, Bad Decisions, is a huge honour. The project has taken a year to make, I’ve whittled down loads of demos to the best few. I ended up remixing the tracks several times, and I’ve found the best version of each – it feels great to finally get these tracks out into the world! The UK Garage scene feels as strong as ever right now, which is fantastic to see. So as a long-time fan of the Defected brand, this feels like a fitting time to launch the label.
