After gathered nearly 300 testimonies, METOODJS raises funds to support victims of abuse in electronic music with legal and psychological assistance.

From Informal Support to Structured Action

In response to a growing number of testimonies and an increasingly visible crisis within the electronic music ecosystem after the recent Hard Techno scene events we spoke about here, and especially the buzz around Amelie Lens's statement we shared here too, Metoodjs has taken a decisive step forward. Now formally established as an association under French law, the collective announces the launch of a fundraiser aimed at providing direct legal and psychological support to individuals affected by abuse and misconduct in the industry.

What began as an informal network of support has evolved into a structured initiative, backed by legal, psychological and media professionals. This transition reflects a broader shift: from isolated efforts to a coordinated system designed to respond to the scale and complexity of the issue.

Since its inception, the initiative has received close to 300 testimonies. Behind that number lies a reality long documented across multiple studies but often underreported in practice — a culture where silence, power imbalance and professional insecurity intersect.

Testimonies, Patterns and the Need for Structure

Part of Metoodjs’ work has involved issuing targeted calls for testimony, often at the request of victims themselves or in response to recurring patterns suggesting wider issues. These calls have played a crucial role in identifying additional individuals affected by similar situations, enabling connections that are essential both for legal processes and personal recovery.

In several cases, victims have been able to come forward for the first time, encouraged by the realisation that their experiences were not isolated. This dynamic — moving from individual silence to collective awareness — has been central to the initiative’s development.

Over recent weeks, this process has accelerated. Some victims are now engaging in legal proceedings, while others are collaborating with investigative journalists as part of ongoing inquiries. Further developments, the association states, will be communicated when validated by legal representatives and media partners.

We are committed to providing a safe and trusted space for victims, while ensuring that access to legal and psychological support is not limited by financial means.

Removing Financial Barriers to Justice and Care

At the core of the fundraiser lies a simple objective: ensuring that access to support is not determined by financial means.

Legal action remains out of reach for many victims, particularly in an industry where those accused often hold positions of influence and resources. At the same time, psychological care — essential in the aftermath of trauma — is frequently inaccessible due to cost.

The funds raised will primarily be allocated to two areas:

  • Legal support, covering fees for cases that are formally initiated and meet criteria for urgent assistance, through a network of specialised lawyers experienced in handling abuse and harassment cases.

  • Therapeutic support, providing access to psychologists trained in trauma-related care, enabling victims to receive professional help over sustained periods.

This dual approach reflects an understanding that recovery is not limited to legal outcomes. It requires both justice and care.

Building a Sustainable Support System

Beyond immediate assistance, part of the funds will ensure the operational continuity of the association. This includes secure data management, case coordination tools and infrastructure necessary to handle sensitive information responsibly.

Additional resources may be directed toward specific initiatives, such as educational programmes, workshops, or the development of safer reporting environments — both online and within the industry itself.

Metoodjs also anticipates the need to address potential legal challenges, including defamation claims, which often accompany cases of this nature. Allocating resources to these areas is considered essential to maintaining the integrity and independence of the organisation’s work.

Transparency as a Foundational Principle

In a context where trust is critical, the association emphasises its commitment to transparency. While preserving the anonymity of individuals, Metoodjs will publish annual summaries detailing:

  • The number of legal cases supported

  • The number of therapy sessions funded

  • The total allocation of financial resources

These measures aim to ensure accountability and provide a clear framework for external oversight.

An Initiative Rooted in Industry Experience

Metoodjs was founded by a collective of professionals who have spent more than a decade working across the electronic music landscape — as artists, DJs and industry operators. The group is composed overwhelmingly of women, reflecting both the demographic most affected by these issues and the perspective from which the initiative has emerged.

Many of its members had already been providing informal support to victims for years, offering guidance, connecting individuals with trusted professionals and helping them navigate complex situations. The decision to formalise these efforts into an association was driven by a clear conclusion: the scale of the problem required a structured, sustainable response.

Today, the organisation brings together legal expertise, psychological support and industry knowledge within a single framework, supported by an extended network of lawyers, therapists, journalists and trusted contacts.

A Response to a Broader Moment

The launch of the fundraiser comes at a time of renewed attention on misconduct within the music industry, following a wave of public allegations that has encouraged more individuals to speak out.

This momentum has exposed both the scale of the issue and the limitations of existing support systems. It has also reinforced a reality long observed but rarely addressed at this level: that without resources, many victims remain unable to act.

Toward Structural Change

By creating a mechanism that directly supports victims while building long-term capacity, Metoodjs positions itself within a broader movement seeking to address structural issues within the industry.

Its approach does not claim to resolve the problem alone. Rather, it establishes a foundation — one that connects individuals to the support they need, while contributing to a wider shift toward accountability, safety and transparency.

In an environment where barriers to justice remain significant, the initiative offers a concrete response: not only to listen, but to act.
