The info has been a bombshell among the regulars of White Island, Carl Cox has announced avery sad news to DJ MAG. After 15 years in the legendary and worldwide-recognized Space Ibiza, he will end his residency. The end of an era? For sure.
Establishing Space as one of the biggest clubs in the world with this residency and speaking to DJ Mag, Carl Cox explained in details the reasons of this decision :
“ I’ll have been there for 15 years and I think I’ll have represented dance music at the highest level among anyone I know. I’d be quite happy to walk away from it and do something else. Next year will be my last year at Space Ibiza, so please do not miss a single night if you can, very special line-ups for 15 weeks. ” – Carl Cox
Behind the shock announcement, the obvious reality of the white island’ massive transformation which is now too busy to welcome the new international richs people and please their demands for ever more luxurious places. The end of an era that let you go inside any clubs on the island simply dressed with a bathing suits and the start of the multiplication of VIP area and expensive-related services. This end of era is also symbolized by rumors surrounding Space’s future as the legend state :
” The thing is, all good things come to an end. It’s common knowledge that the owners of Ushuaia [and Space] want to turn Space into Ushuaia Club. Whether it’s a good or bad thing, I don’t want to be a part of it. It’s got nothing to do with me. If I re-contract myself to do Ushuaia Club at Space, potentially, what do I do? What would they want me to do? Either carry on doing what I’ve been doing for 15 years or wise up to what the future holds. ” – Carl Cox
